The SATonSat program focuses on serving students in grades 6 – 9 by helping them build a strong foundation in math and English reading comprehension and writing. Program materials are based on the SAT College Board and other resources, but the teaching methodology is based on a student-centered collaborative model. Students enrolled in the program learn at their own pace with no pressure to take benchmark exams.
Classes are usually held from 1PM – 3PM each Saturday (except for holiday weekends) from September – December for the Fall Semester and January – May for the Spring Semester. Exact schedule is provided during enrollment. Tuition is collected to pay for facility rental, program materials, and mileage reimbursements for volunteer instructors.
APACAF recommends its students to participate in the SATonSat program for at least two years in order to build a strong learning foundation that could be applicable to their school performance as well as when they take the PSAT and SAT exams.
APACAF also offers high performing students a chance to compete for a teaching assistant (TA) position and earn community service hours and/or an academic stipend or scholarship; this incentive has motivated students to perform well in the program.
For more information about the SATonSat program or how to enroll, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “SATonSat.” This is a popular program with very limited space; enrollments are accepted on a first come first serve basis. We maintain an active waiting list each semester.
